There's another cool girlfriend stopping by to visit me today: Elizabeth Scott! Elizabeth's new book, THE UNWRITTEN RULE, just released this week and looks so good!
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Everyone knows the unwritten rule: You don't like you best friend's boyfriend.
Sarah has had a crush on Ryan for years. He's easy to talk to, supersmart, and totally gets her. Lately it even seems like he's paying extra attention to her. Everything would be perfect except for two things: Ryan is Brianna's boyfriend, and Brianna is Sarah's best friend.
Sarah forces herself to avoid Ryan and tries to convince herself not to like him. She feels so guilty for wanting him, and the last thing she wants is to hurt her best friend. But when she's thrown together with Ryan one night, something happens. It's wonderful...and awful.
Sarah is torn apart by guilt, but what she feels is nothing short of addiction, and she can't stop herself from wanting more...
OUR INTERVIEW:
KRISTINA: In my book, THE ESPRESSOLOGIST, Jane, a coffee barista, matchmakes people based on their favorite coffee drinks. What’s your favorite coffee drink? (If you don’t like coffee, tell me what your favorite drink in general is. But I am sorry, you’ll never find love. Kidding!)
ELIZABETH: I'm actually allergic to coffee--sorry! So I don't have a favorite coffee drink. I think it smells amazing, though!
KRISTINA: I am always curious about when and where writers write. Can you tell me about your schedule and your favorite place to work?
ELIZABETH: I like to work at home, and I try to schedule at least a few hours every day to get off line and just write!
KRISTINA: What is your most favorite (or, weirdest, craziest, funniest, most touching etc.) comment you’ve received from a fan?
ELIZABETH: I once got a letter from someone who didn't like my first novel, Bloom--and that same person wrote me back about a year later to say they'd read the book again and that they now liked it! It really meant a lot to me--not just because they'd read the book again and liked it, but because they'd decided to read the book again. I mean, that's amazing!
KRISTINA: Are you on twitter? Where can we follow you?
ELIZABETH: I am! You can find me on: http:///www.twitter.com/escottwrites -- hope to see you there!
KRISTINA: What are you working on now?
ELIZABETH: My next novel, Grace, will be out this September. It's about a girl who has been raised to be a suicide bomber--and what happens to her when she decides she doesn't want to die.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Elizabeth Scott grew up in a town so small it didn't even have a post office, though it did boast an impressive cattle population. She's sold hardware and panty hose and had a memorable three-day stint in the dot-com industry, where she learned that she really didn't want a career burning CDs. She lives just outside Washington, DC, with her husband; firmly believes you can never own too many books; and would love it if you visited her website: www.ElizabethWrites.com

Updates
It's been a fun week and I have some catching up to do. First, if you haven't seen it, check out Alice Pope's blog-- I'm debut author of the month! Yay! Very cool.
Second, the author fair last weekend was great! That was my first time participating in one and the time surprisingly flew by. It was 4 hours long and the library was full of authors, each at their own decorated tables. Except Kristin Walker and I wanted to share because we're dorks and we didn't have much stuff anyway. We both have just our first books out and some of these authors had like a dozen or more books so they really needed a whole table!
And Monday night we went to the see fellow 2009 Deb Carrie Ryan at her Anderson's signing. I was so impressed by the huge crowd-- especially for a week night!
Carrie's new book, Dead Tossed Waves just came out (I got it and I'm dying to get to it) and her first book, The Forest of Hands and Teeth made the NYT times list last week! Yay Carrie!
I'm still trying to get more writing and critiquing in. I feel really off this week-- I'm thinking it's the daylight savings thing. Anyone else feeling this? I need to get with it!

Interview with Kristin Walker, author of A MATCH MADE IN HIGH SCHOOL
Kristin Walker is visiting my blog today to talk about her book A MATCH MADE IN HIGH SCHOOL. Yay! I'm sure you've already heard about Kristin's fun book but let's find out a bit more about her.
KRISTINA: What's your very favorite thing about your book (Certain chap? Scene? Cover?)?
KRISTIN: I really like the characters. I wish they were real and I could hang out with them. And be 17 again. And really hot this time. And super smart. And uber-talented and rich and not say stupid things like a goof-ball. And have amazing fashion sense and taste in music. And have a magic carpet that takes me around the world to all the hottest clubs on the weekend. And have a pet monkey. And...
Wait, what was the question?
KRISTINA: Where do you do most of your writing?
KRISTIN: I have a laptop, so I roam around the house, depending on where the noise is that my kids are making. I have a desk I use, and I also like curl up in bed.
KRISTINA: What's the naughtiest thing you did in high school that you DIDN'T get caught doing (Fess up now!)
KRISTIN: Oh, man I was such a wimp in high school. I never liked to break rules. I think I did one or two mildly naughty things, but I got caught every time.
KRISTINA: What's your favorite coffee drink? (If you don't like coffee, WHY NOT?! Really, what do you like to drink then while you're writing?)
KRISTIN: LOVE coffee. I drink half-caf with skim milk. Well, I prefer half-and-half really, but I weaned myself off of it for the sake of my tight jeans.
When I really want a treat, though, I like a caramel macchiato. I really hope that's not a dork drink. But I suspect it is. I don't care, they're yummy.

Arcs, new ideas, and school visits oh my
Catching up! It's been a bit of a strange week. My 7-yr old had his tonsils out so I've been mostly taking care of him. But some really cool things have been going on this week too. Like...
I got my ARCs of MY FAKE BOYFRIEND IS BETTER THAN YOURS!!!!
Aren't they so cute?? I love them! The first thing I did was drop one of at my mom's house so her and my dad could read (and mom could see that I dedicated this book to her. :-) ). And, according to the back of the ARC, the book will be coming out in August! YAY! It's coming up! I'm so dang excited about this!
I'm also working on a new book that I'm super jazzed about. I want to spend all my time writing but life and family and other things keep getting in the way. There is a lot of reading I need to do for this project though so I am getting through that fast. I'll share more about it when I can but right now I'm in that YAY, I LOVE MY NEW BOOK IDEA! mode. Which is one of the best times as a writer.
Lastly, yesterday I had an awesome school visit with the Westmont Junior High Writer's Club. I was super impressed with the turnout, considering these kids had to stay after school to see me. I'd say there were maybe 30-35 people there. And they are so smart! Of course that's given as they're all writers. :-) But it was great to see how many kids (6th through 8th graders) are already writing their own books! I never tried more than short stories at that age. Very impressive. And they asked lots of really great questions too! And of course some that made me laugh like- Do you know Stephanie Meyer? How big is your house? How much do they pay you? :-) They were also very sweet and had lots of cookies and gave me flowers and gave me the signs they made advertising the event. Aren't they so cute?
Now I'm thinking about my post on Author2Author tomorrow. This week we're talking about book trailers. I still can't decide how I feel about them. Do you guys think every book needs a book trailer? What if the book is more tween or middle grade? Hmmmm.
