My Fake Boyfriend is Better Than Yours
Here's the cover and summary for my middle grade coming out 8/31/10:
Summary:
Tori Barnes can’t believe she has to face the first day of seventh grade alone but something’s up with her BFF, Sienna Baker. Sienna went away on a family vacation for the whole summer and Tori hasn’t heard a peep from her in six weeks. At school, Tori is shocked at the new Sienna: tan, confident, and full of stories about her new dreamy boyfriend. Tori refuses to believe that one summer at a beach can change her BFF this much. The kids at school are even treating her differently.
Sienna has always been crazy shy around guys so Tori knows that she’s totally making this guy up. And two can play at that game. Sick of Sienna’s endless tales of Mr. Wonderful, Tori invents her own fake boyfriend. And she makes sure that her boyfriend is better than Sienna’s in every way. If Sienna’s guy sends her carnations, Tori’s sends her roses. If Sienna says she talked to her guy online for an hour, Tori says she talked to hers for two hours. Things are going great—unless you count the whole lying to your best friend thing—until everyone starts talking about the back-to-school dance and insisting Tori and Sienna bring their boyfriends . . .
Funny and true to life, Kristina Springer’s newest novel will be loved by all readers who know that a good friend comes before a boyfriend—be he real or fake—every time.

Goings on this Week: A list
2) I've been talking about becoming more swagalicious over on our group blog at Author2Author. And in my first attempt I have designed and ordered stickers for The Espressologist!
.jpg)
Ok, the photo is a bit blurry since I just took it with my phone (ignore the Princess walkie talkie behind it) but aren't they cute? Much cuter in hand. If you want one e-mail me and I'll mail it to you. Kristina (at) KristinaSpringer.com.
3) And since I've got some good swag I'm ready for another author fair this Saturday, April 10th! If you're in the area of Bolingbrook, IL I'll be at their Author Fair (Fountaindale Public Library, with a ton of other authors from 11am-3pm. We'll be chatting, signing books, and trying our darnedest to look cute. Stop by if you can!
4) I joined Young Adult Authors Against Bullying and you should too. Join at the facebook page and stay tuned for an anthology in the future with bullying experiences from a ton of Young Adult authors.
5) My super sweet editor just sent me Jessica Brody's new book, The Karma Club. I'm sooooo excited to read this!

5) My friend/co-blogger at A2A Lisa Schroeder is having an awesome week! She just sold another wonderful verse novel called, The Day Before. Details here.
6) Other than all this good stuff, I've sworn off sugar and had my first kettlebell class this week (Oh, my god) so you know, revisions are going swell. Nothing like being cranky and in pain from head to toe to help get some work done.
What's up with you?

I've been really really thinking about this...

(Nope- this pic has nothing to do with the book but it's cute right?)
I'm having such a hard time getting going! I really need a kick start. There's something about that first letter that always overwhelms me. Like I can't wrap my head around the changes needed. After we've gone back and forth with edits a few times it's not as hard to alter the book but I have some crazy fear that I'm going to ruin it or not be able to make the needed cuts or add awesome new scenes with that first round. So then I find other things I need to do like check facebook or watching Lara Zielin's Editing letter video on You Tube for the 20th time.
Ugh. Ok, somebody give me a push. I have to try and get some work done...

Girlfriends' Cyber Circuit: Starring Elizabeth Scott!

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Everyone knows the unwritten rule: You don't like you best friend's boyfriend.
Sarah has had a crush on Ryan for years. He's easy to talk to, supersmart, and totally gets her. Lately it even seems like he's paying extra attention to her. Everything would be perfect except for two things: Ryan is Brianna's boyfriend, and Brianna is Sarah's best friend.
Sarah forces herself to avoid Ryan and tries to convince herself not to like him. She feels so guilty for wanting him, and the last thing she wants is to hurt her best friend. But when she's thrown together with Ryan one night, something happens. It's wonderful...and awful.
Sarah is torn apart by guilt, but what she feels is nothing short of addiction, and she can't stop herself from wanting more...
OUR INTERVIEW:
KRISTINA: In my book, THE ESPRESSOLOGIST, Jane, a coffee barista, matchmakes people based on their favorite coffee drinks. What’s your favorite coffee drink? (If you don’t like coffee, tell me what your favorite drink in general is. But I am sorry, you’ll never find love. Kidding!)
ELIZABETH: I'm actually allergic to coffee--sorry! So I don't have a favorite coffee drink. I think it smells amazing, though!
KRISTINA: I am always curious about when and where writers write. Can you tell me about your schedule and your favorite place to work?
ELIZABETH: I like to work at home, and I try to schedule at least a few hours every day to get off line and just write!
KRISTINA: What is your most favorite (or, weirdest, craziest, funniest, most touching etc.) comment you’ve received from a fan?
ELIZABETH: I once got a letter from someone who didn't like my first novel, Bloom--and that same person wrote me back about a year later to say they'd read the book again and that they now liked it! It really meant a lot to me--not just because they'd read the book again and liked it, but because they'd decided to read the book again. I mean, that's amazing!
KRISTINA: Are you on twitter? Where can we follow you?
ELIZABETH: I am! You can find me on: http:///www.twitter.com/escottwrites -- hope to see you there!
KRISTINA: What are you working on now?
ELIZABETH: My next novel, Grace, will be out this September. It's about a girl who has been raised to be a suicide bomber--and what happens to her when she decides she doesn't want to die.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Elizabeth Scott grew up in a town so small it didn't even have a post office, though it did boast an impressive cattle population. She's sold hardware and panty hose and had a memorable three-day stint in the dot-com industry, where she learned that she really didn't want a career burning CDs. She lives just outside Washington, DC, with her husband; firmly believes you can never own too many books; and would love it if you visited her website: www.ElizabethWrites.com

Updates
Second, the author fair last weekend was great! That was my first time participating in one and the time surprisingly flew by. It was 4 hours long and the library was full of authors, each at their own decorated tables. Except Kristin Walker and I wanted to share because we're dorks and we didn't have much stuff anyway. We both have just our first books out and some of these authors had like a dozen or more books so they really needed a whole table!
And Monday night we went to the see fellow 2009 Deb Carrie Ryan at her Anderson's signing. I was so impressed by the huge crowd-- especially for a week night!

Carrie's new book, Dead Tossed Waves just came out (I got it and I'm dying to get to it) and her first book, The Forest of Hands and Teeth made the NYT times list last week! Yay Carrie!
I'm still trying to get more writing and critiquing in. I feel really off this week-- I'm thinking it's the daylight savings thing. Anyone else feeling this? I need to get with it!
